Assisted Readymade Workshop
April 28, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm UTC-4
Assisted Readymade Workshop at the Morean
In partnership with The Dali Museum and in celebration of our current special exhibition, Dali/Duchamp (Feb 10 – May 27, 2018), The Morean is hosting a workshop dedicated to exploring Marcel Duchamp’s idea of the readymade. What does it mean to strip an everyday object of its utilitarian purpose and render it purely artistic instead? If Duchamp were working today, how might his readymades look? What mundane objects might catch his eye, and how might he disassemble and reconfigure said objects for the purposes of art? In this hands-on workshop, you will create your own assisted readymade.
In addition to the workshop, we invite you to attend a free lecture and information session at The Dali Museum hosted by instructor Steve Beverage on April 14. Workshop registration includes admission for one to the Dali/Duchamp exhibition on this date. Must bring proof of purchase. Offer not valid any other day.
Cost: Dali Museum Members* and/or Morean Members**: $60, Nonmembers: $70
Location: The Morean Arts Center
Must register through the Morean. Workshop registration closes 5pm on Friday April 20.
