Assisted Readymade Talk
In partnership with The Morean Arts Center and in celebration of our current special exhibition, Dali/Duchamp (Feb 10 – May 27, 2018), The Dali Museum is hosting an engaging discussion with Steve Beverage regarding the history of the readymade, the surrealist object and other relevant contemporary approaches to sculptural art-making. The presentation will examine Marcel Duchamp’s and Salvador Dali’s influence on other artists and focus on identifying useful strategies for creating assisted readymade sculptures.
Steve Beverage is a painter and sculptor. He received his MFA in studio art from USF in 2000 and had his first solo exhibition in 2006. He has been making art and teaching in the Tampa Bay area for the past 18 years. He was a full-time faculty member at the Art Institute of Tampa and has taught at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota and the Morean Art Center in St. Petersburg. He is currently a faculty member at Pinellas County Center for the Arts where he teaches Advanced Placement Drawing and Art History.
